Fire Insurance Valuations
It is extremely important to ensure that a building is insured for the correct rebuilding assessment. Under insurement could result in insurers refusing to settle the full cost of reinstatement. Over insurement could result in an unnecessary high premium.

We are able to correctly assess the reinstatement value of any type of building.

Insurance Claims
We can deal with all types of building related insurance claims. We will inspect the property and assess the damage. We will then make a claim to your insurer and act as your professional advisor and negotiate with loss adjusters as necessary.

Where the reinstatement work involves building work i.e. subsidence, impact, water or fire damage, in all cases we will prepare a detailed specification, obtain competitive builders prices, obtain insurers approval, appoint the builder and monitor the work, thus relieving you of the worry and inconvenience.

Principal Designer (CDM Regulations)
Where building work is notifable to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, we are able to act as Principal Designer. This is a specialist service relating to construction projects and is predominately carried out by David A Cunningham FRICS MCIArb C.Build E FCABE MaPS MCQI CQP who is a member of the Association For Project Safety, which is the pre-eminent professional institution in this field.

Expert Witness
Our Chartered Building Surveyors are often appointed to act as Expert Witness. Usually we are instructed by an appointing solicitor or building owner. We prepare Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) compliant expert reports and give evidence in Court when necessary. This service is predominately carried out by David A Cunningham FRICS MCIArb C.Build E FCABE MPTS MaPS MCQI CQP who is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is a Single Joint Expert appointed by the Court. 

We also act as Arbitrators and Advocates in Adjucation together with other forms of Mediation and Dispute Resolution.

Boundary Disputes
We regularly act as expert surveyors in boundary disputes. In each case we inspect the land in question and prepare a detailed report including a drawing showing where in our view the relevant boundary should be. This often includes the provision of a topographical land survey.  Our reports are frequently used in litigation and we are required to give evidence in Court.

Town Planning
Our team is conversant with current Town and Country planning legislation. We regularly submit planning applications for development. This includes new work of all types and change of use. We can handle planning appeals and have run public inquires involving planning consultants and planning Counsel (where appropriate).

Building Regulations                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Our team is conversant with the ever changing Building Regulations.  We regularly submit Building Regulations applications to local authorities and approved inspectors for building owners, either as part of a full commission service or statutory approval service only.

External Consultants
We regularly appoint external consultants. When offering a ‘Turn Key Operation’ we may appoint specialist advisors as the project dictates. We are able to manage these additional resources in the same way that we can provide in-house services. The client then has the benefit of dealing with a professional firm holding adequate Professional Indemnity Insurance to cover all activities.

Conveyance Drawings
Our architectural team regularly prepares conveyance drawings for land owners and solicitors in respect of change of ownership in accordance with the Land Registry requirements.

Building Pathology
Our Chartered Building Surveyors are able to investigate specific defects in the the building fabric and structural elements and recommend remedial works.  We are also able to prepare detailed remedial specifications and monitor the repair works.

Energy Conservation
We are able to advise on energy conservation and sustainable building design with the ever increasing desire for carbon neutral buildings.

Asbestos Surveys
Our Chartered Building Surveyors undertake asbestos management surveys in accordance with statutory legislation for building owners and managers.
