DCA were commissioned to design an extension to an existing residential property within the conservation area to form a self-contained open plan living accommodation.
The client's requirement was for a simple building form having a contemporary interior design. Rather than simply continuing the style of the existing property, we chose to draw from the established vernacular style present within the area, and to produce a standalone structure which would complement the existing building. The use of timber frame enables a one and a half storey structure to be achieved whilst remaining sub-servient to the main house.
